Sometimes you just have to reel it in. Have you had a friend that had a recent breakup? Here are some tips to support:

📍 Ask what you can do to help, rather than assume you know what they need

Every breakup is different and everyone won’t handle a breakup just like you. Additionally, we all have different emotions and process things COMPLETELY different. Saying things like: “I’m sorry you’re going through this, is there anything you want to talk about or how can I support you today” can go a long way.

📍 Don't minimize their emotions with trivializing statements

Saying things like, “they were fugly anyway” or “his hairline was trash”, can come off as invalidating and can minimize your friend’s emotions.

Instead, let them share how they're feeling and then validate it.

📍 If they could use professional support, you can help them find a therapist

Sometimes having an unbiased opinion is really needed. If you feel that you’ve support all that you can, assisting your friend to reach out to a therapist can be really helpful ❤️

Here are some signs of a workplace that you might want to leave and find a new position:

📍Fear of Retribution
📍Gossip
📍Lack of Confidence in Leadership
📍Lack of Communication
📍Fear of Sharing Your True Thoughts
📍Unrealistic Expectations

Sounds like your job? While you are seeking other employment, here are some ways for you to manage during your time there:

❤️Take Time for Yourself❤️

Your mental health is really important and working non-stop can take a toll on your mental wellness. Make "me time" non-negotiable and get out of the office for your lunch break or at least take a full break.

Listen to a podcast, write in your journal, or even do some light stretching to relieve some tension.

❤️Create a Timeline for Your Exit❤️

Though you don't actually know when you will leave, having a deadline helps you stay focused on your goal and helps remind you that this isn't forever.

This always helps you stay motivated. Reaching out to your friends and family to let them know you're seeking employment could help speed up the process.

❤️Separate Work and Home Life❤️

When you leave work for the day, learn to leave your work stress behind. Enjoy your life at home rather than bringing the toxicity and negativity of your workplace with you.

Anger is an intensified version of softer emotions. So, when you’re too angry to talk, it’s best to explain yourself in the clearest possible terms.

If you’re not ready to talk about underlying emotions, simply say you need time to sort your thoughts.

If you’re able to process your feelings, then it’s time for specifics:

To be honest, I am angry, but it’s because I’m sad about _____, and worried about ______.
I’m angry because _____ and _____ and need some time to process this.

Let’s talk about effective communication because this clearly isn’t it 😂

So many of us are guilty of having similar behaviors knowing good and well we are upset

Effective communication can relieve a lot of stress and tension in your life because holding things in can lead to resentment and a lot of other negative emotions

When working on communication, try this:

📍 Identify your need
📍 Find a time + place for talking with your partner
📍Use “I” statement

Making these changes can be difficult especially when you’re not use to addressing your concerns directly

Try implementing these strategies on smaller things and work your way up to bigger concerns ❤️
