Have you found yourself mindlessly watching things being placed in order or liking post after post of nice and neat things? There’s a reason for that!

Keep Things Clean And Organized For You, Science Can Prove It.

Research says…

Excerpt from Psychology Today

study led by associate professor NiCole R. Keith, Ph.D., research scientist and professor at Indiana University, found that people with clean houses are healthier than people with messy houses. Keith and her colleagues tracked the physical health of 998 African Americans between the ages of 49 and 65, a demographic known to be at an increased risk for heart disease.

Participants who kept their homes clean were healthier and more active than those who didn’t. In fact, house cleanliness was even more of a predictor for physical health than neighborhood walkability.

Why we love it

Our brains and all the things that go into our brain system are organized. Without organization, we would not function so there’s no wonder why we seek organization.

Problems + Solutions

Problem: You don’t have enough time

Solution: Let’s be honest. Time is limited for all of us and the multiple things we have going on. Instead of letting things go, try one of these options:

  1. Invest in a maid
  2. Spend 30 minutes a day cleaning and organizing

Problem: You have too much stuff

Solution: Donate or throw things away. Read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. It is truly helpful with taking steps to get better around the home.

Take Away:

Our brains seek organization which in turn can help improve our own mental health. See what you can do today to organize your home.
